H. Lawrence Shotwell

H. Lawrence Shotwell has been practicing law since 1997. Mr. Shotwell received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and subsequently graduated from William and Mary School of Law. He has extensive criminal defense trial experience. Lawrence has successfully defended in trial numerous cases in superior court including, first degree murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, armed robbery, rape, sexual offense, embezzlement, drug trafficking, sale and delivery of drugs, possession with intent to sell and deliver drugs, and driving while impaired. Mr Shotwell received a great deal of local, statewide, and even National recognition for his work in developing the “Shotwell Motion” that resulted in large number of DWI dismissals across the state.

We are located in Historic Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina about three blocks from the New Hanover County Courthouse. The Shotwell law group currently has two lawyers with over 23 years of combined legal experience with four dedicated support staff.
